About the Weather…

Yes, we’re British. To some, that is equivalent to a modest technological ability. Doesn’t apply to weather forecasting, apparently!

Channel four news insisted it’s sunny here, in Cornwall – blistering sunshine in fact – when we were in the middle of a horrendous thunderstorm (bad enough to lose power for a few minutes). I understand forecasts can be tricky. But surely we haven’t lost the ability to look out the window! Or have we?

  1. I’m in the US and live smack dab in the middle of a forest. The forecast here says partly cloudy most of the time. I think they secretly do that so if it is sunny or rainy they “are not far off” in their estimate. In actuality it is either sunny without a cloud in the sky or it’s storming so hard we don’t have Internet, cell signal, or electricity. I guess it’s good if you like surprises πŸ˜‰

P.s. love the picture of the young lady and her umbrella. Too cute!

    1. Thank you, Ashley! I like the picture, too, probably because there’s no use wasting money on umbrellas in the UK. I gave up on buying them years back. When the rain is soft, it’s like walking through a car-wash. If it’s heavier, it’s also accompanied by winds. They don’t make umbrellas clever enough for British weather (they’d probably be called houses πŸ˜‰ )

      Umbrellas are overrated, anyway!

      1. Yes, I suppose a rain coat with a sturdy hood would be much better than an umbrella in all that wind, and a house is a much better umbrella. It protects you in all 6 directions πŸ™‚
